Seeing Jazz with George Wein

At a gathering last year at George Wein's apartment, guests were treated to a rare glimpse of his extensive art collection as well as a look at some of the many photos that have been taken over the years of the great jazz artists whose performance careers owe much to Mr. Wein, the nation's pre-eminent jazz impresario. As photos were passed around, Mr. Wein shared anecdotes of the people and places, and it was the intimacy of these recollections that sparked the idea for this series. Over three nights, Mr. Wein will screen selected images from his photo gallery and use the pictures as a point of entry to talk about his life in jazz and the many legendary artists who he holds dear. After this revelatory prelude, Mr. Wein will invite the evening's guests to the stage for a little bit of talk and a lot of great musicmaking.
