Bucky Pizzarelli

Bucky Pizzarelli has been a fixture in jazz and the studios since the early '50s. Self-taught, he has long been a master of the seven-string guitar. Over the years, he has worked with Vaughn Monroe, the Three Sounds, Benny Goodman, George Barnes, Zoot Sims, Bud Freeman, Stéphane Grappelli and many others. Mr. Pizzarelli keeps a busy recording schedule and plays often at jazz parties. He also has recorded with his son, John Pizzarelli, since the early '80s, and received accolades for his own 2007 tribute to Freddie Green. Along with being a dedicated preservationist of guitar music and the early styles of playing, Mr. Pizzarelli has developed a very personal style that puts him in a class of his own. Whether on stage or on recordings, he presents a picture of the complete jazz musician and guitarist who moves effortlessly from solo guitar to playing solid, swinging rhythm and single string solos in an ensemble setting.
